Here comes the ice: It’s winter in Oklahoma again

IMG_1887.JPG Our power is back, Internet is available — so here’s what’s happening.

Ice froze on all the trees Sunday night/Monday morning. This happened pretty much in all of Oklahoma. Tree limbs snapped, power went out. As of this writing, there are still hundreds of thousands of people without power.

I ventured into our sunroom Monday morning and found the ceiling dripping water everywhere. I got to spend a good bit of time hunting down various bowls and buckets to catch all the water. Then, once the sun came up, I got to see what was going on.

The trees were a little droopy. Then limbs started snapping.

Yep, that’s my new fence the tree fell on. Fear not, I got out the saw and got the weight off it. Later on, the other pear tree fell the other direction. I still need to clean that one up.

We lost power on Monday around 11am. We were planning to huddle in the living room for the night. We pulled out Annabelle’s sleeping bag — she was very excited. Then, the power came back on at 8:30pm. So, we had Tony and Meghan come over since they didn’t have power.

Funny aside — my new Mac came on Monday. UPS delivered it despite all the chaos. So I get this new computer, but the power was out. I got to stare at it until it got dark. But you can guarantee that once the power kicked on it was booted up. BOO YAH. I had to wait until Wednesday for the Internet, though.

After dinner, we made homemade s’mores with candles.

And here’s some pictures from around the neighborhood:

I also have a funny story about Annabelle that I will share in a later update.
