It’s that time of year again — bluegrass festivals. The festival of choice this year was Guthrie’s Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, which, for a bluegrass festival in Oklahoma, isn’t half-bad.
This bluegrass festival operated similarly to those we have attended in the past:
- Camping next to/near the stages
- Excellent musicians, some seen before
- Overpriced food, guaranteed to not be good for you
- Warm weather, when the day previously it was chilly
- Rain.
However, we included a new variable to the bluegrass festival experience this year:

The main thing concerning us about Annabelle’s attendance was sleeping in the tent. Fortunately, Uncle Tony let us borrow his HUGE tent. This tent was so big we could fit Annabelle’s playpen in it (which served as her bed):
Annabelle really did quite well with camping. She had one bad night where she kept waking up after the train would roll through town, but that was it.
Abby participated in the random band jam this year. Here she is performing with her random bandmates:
Annabelle would sleep during the evening musical acts:
This was the best thing I ate (pulled pork nachos!):
Annabelle and I playing in the back with a ball:
It rained Saturday evening, but we were prepared:
We had a pretty good time. To see all the photos we took during the bluegrass festival, click the picture below, or browse to our photos section:
